S.E.O stands for Search Engine Optimization. I will be telling you how important keywords are for S.E.O for you and your website.
Keywords are used by the search engines such as Yahoo, Bing and Google to help recognise your website from the millions of others that are available.
One of the first things we do when we are looking up information, a product or a business is inputting a choice of words into the search box.
An example of this could be if we were looking for a holiday in winter, we could input Winter Sun, but that would bring up over 96,000,000 sites with Winter Sun somewhere within the content of that site.
Whereas I would use different words or increase the words used, such as Winter Holiday Sun and this then would decrease the sites to 21,200,000.
Think of different keywords, that you would use yourself if you were to do a search for your website, business, product, as you may well find that others will use them.
The words used in the search box are known as keywords and it is these words that are so important to your site and to the search engine optimization.
Not just any random words can be used though; these words need to be relevant to your site, to your niche, to your business, to your product.
Choosing the correct keywords can improve the ranking of your site, but using them too often and inappropriately can result in your site being banned from the search engines.
When choosing keywords or phrases, select the most appropriate from the content of you website, that someone is most likely to choose to put into the search engines.
Each page from your site should include the keywords or phrases if possible in any of these, your titles, heading, sub-headings, and of course you need to use the keyword or phrase in the body of writing.
There is no right or wrong amount of keywords to use, but you need to think, use too many and you have to fit them in, too few and the search engines are going to find it hard to find you, so probably a realistic amount is four/five to eight/ten that have a high search volume, and are relevant to your site.
Then you need to use these keywords or phrases frequently, but relevantly in any writing that you do in respect of your website.
Nothing can guarantee first page rankings, but if you try the things above and write great relevant content, then that will help increase your visitors, therefore hopefully making your website that much higher in the ranking, making it easier to find.
